GO “a little” RAW for Breakfast!

In the constant quest for a healthier lifestyle I stumbled upon the book “Raw Living” by Kate Wood.

She offers many nutritional tips, like choose seeds over nuts for digestive ease and which foods are “super foods”.  And although I quickly realized that I’m not ready at this stage in my journey to eat only raw foods I did note and try many of the recipes that did not require a dehydrator, Vitamix or food processor!

My BOTM co-founder Melissa had a good suggestion. Substitute one meal a day for a raw meal.

Done! You can do it too!

I’ve found such a delicious breakfast alternative in Kate’s book that I could eat it every day, or at least every third! Naturally, I substituted a few things because I never seem to have every ingredient! My substitutions might not be exactly equal nutritionally, but are so delicious and are foods that are still recommended in the book!

Breakfast Pudding (Blender, takes 5 minutes and some pre-soaking)

-2 oz sesame seeds, soaked 8-12 hours

-1oz raisins, soaked 8-12 hours

-2 apples (I used one apple and one pear)

-1 banana

-1 tbsp flax oil (I used coconut oil- YUM!)

-1 tbsp lecithin granules (now I had NO IDEA what that was so I left it out and my pudding was fine. However after more reading I see that it helps with absorption of fat, so if you can use it- Do!)

Soak the seeds and raisins overnight. Prep the apples and bananas by removing skin, stems and seeds. Blend all ingredients to a smooth puree. Best eaten the same day.

Voila! Now you can join me for breakfast and…
